It was a beautiful post with a wonderful heartfelt sentiment.

Your Mom is correct. Words impact us all differently and I was simply expressing how I've always responded to the word tolerance. I fully trust that your use of the word was exactly as you defined.

I'm sorry if my comment came across as either critical or harsh. It was not at all intended as such.Hilaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12787493532006658679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4950011748302867486.post-41953844247599201232010-10-22T08:12:52.263-07:002010-10-22T08:12:52.263-07:00I didn't even think anything of it!

That it is easily manipulated. That it grows and changes. Make sure that we post uplifting, positive comments - it is okay to speak your mind but don't be intolerant on a tolerance post.
Oh the irony.
<3 ya B & LOVED THE POST.

And you know what, tolerance is a great thing. It is a beautiful thing. And sometimes it takes a bit of tolerance before you can turn to acceptance. And that is okay.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17998209409220136371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4950011748302867486.post-46594386055883877822010-10-21T16:24:22.399-07:002010-10-21T16:24:22.399-07:00Like you, I've used the word tolerance in the ...Like you, I've used the word tolerance in the same way...thinking of it as being respectful and accepting of others.

If I remember correctly, you were talking about you and your friend tolerating your differing beliefs. Which means you accept and respect her even if she doesn't believe exactly like you.

When people pointed out that for them it means something similar to "putting up with"..such as "I am tolerating you.", it doesn't sound very good. I can see their points. I don't think they were putting down your post as much as showing you what this word means to them. They also don't know you like I do...if they did they would know that when you use the word tolerance you mean accept and respect.

One of the things I love about the blogging community is that we can discuss these things...learn from one another and make each other better.

Regardless, I think it was still a wonderful post!
